GRD opens to huge crowd WednesdayConcert series starts tonight7:30am Thursday update If the opening carnival wristband night is any indication, GRD 2011 will be one for the record books, as huge crowds descended on Riverfront Park for opening night. Meanwhile, The Family Credit Union Main Stage has been assembled upstream, and final preparations are in progress for tonight’s opening show featuring The Last Ride and Jake McVey at 7PM. As of this writing, we are expectant that the rain and warm front will push southeast during the day today, leaving the concert dry by showtime this evening. Also on tap for this evening is the Great River Days Queen pageant, and Taco John’s “super hot taco eating contest”. Carnival and gates open at 5PM this evening, and organizers will work diligently to make sure that the show goes on as scheduled. Today is also the last opportunity to purchase three-day concert passes at the discounted $25 price. Friday’s concert entertainment features the Q106.5 “Battle of the Bands” at 7PM, with Hear Kitty Kitty, Seven Shy and Quiet Riot taking the stage at 7PM on Saturday evening. One day concert tickets are sold ONLY at the gate the night of show. Admission prices to the concerts are $10 for Thursday, $10 for Friday, and $15 on Saturday with kids 12 and under free with paid adult. We will post a weather update later today on GreatRiverDays.com, or follow us on Facebook for the latest blogs, news and ticket winners. Other question may be directed to 563-263-0702. |
