GRD Battle of the Bands Update

Entries accepted thru June 19

Update-June 14: The GRD BOB entry period has been extended through June 19. Bands not yet entered may still do so and be considered for voting by the public.

GRD would like to thank the Battle of the Bands presentation sponsor, Q106.5 for suggesting the entry time frame be extended to allow them further promotional airplay for the upcoming event.

 “Its good to see that our radio station sponsor wants to support homegrown music, and the Battle of the Bands concert,” said JJ Koehler, co-chairman of the event.  “It is very gracious of all the radio sponsors for GRD to get on board with the show, because it’s really about recognizing the great talent that’s out there and giving them a professional forum to show what they have,” he concluded.

 Many new bands submitted their entry forms over the weekend, and will be posted on the BOB page so that the fans can check out their music, and vote for their favorite bands. The five finalists will be determined by fan voting on the GreatRiverDays.com website, ending on July 4. Entered bands are encouraged to “get out the vote” so that they can make the final five.

Running total of Current results as of 6PM, June 14 2011:

Crashing the FM – High Cotton Blues Band – Secret Squirrel – Item 9 and the Mad Hatters – Cranial Decay – and within just a few votes are Lost Allies, Pour Boyz, Flight 61 and Thunder Hooker. All the bands currently entered are within the “undecided” voter margin of 27%. Voting will continue through Midnight, July 4 2011, and be heavily advertised and featured on various radio stations and media outlets over the last 2 weeks of polling.
