Re-scheduled BOB info and sponsors confirmed

Outdoor concert to be sponsored by Vanguard Distributing
with assistance from local organizations

While rain may have dampened the original “Battle of the Bands” concert two weeks ago, event organizers and sponsors were left with the decision as whether or not to cancel the show altogether, or try to determine a conclusion with only a partial crowd remaining and incomplete ballot results from the July 30 event.

With the support of the bands themselves, who chose unanimously to reschedule, and the overwhelming positive e-mails and comments from the fans who wanted to see all five bands at one time, the search was on for a way to re-do the entire concert.
The objective of the event was to showcase the best music acts in the area as chosen by the public, together on stage for one evening of all-out music, and let the fans in attendance decide the winners.

“Given the fact that we can’t control the weather, the only fair thing to do is to start over with the performances and fan voting” said JJ Koehler. “We searched all alternatives out there, but in the end, there is no way to determine who had originally voted for which band, or for that matter, who was actually there to vote. Contractual obligations prohibited us from concluding it that next day, after which we then had no venue or sound production to produce the show with” he said of the GRD event, which ended on July 31.

Thanks to sponsor support, what would have been a cancellation altogether, will now go on as a rescheduled event, at a greatly reduced admission price. “Obviously, there are costs to do this kind of an event. Stage, sound, lights and paying the bands is all part of making it work. Some have said to me, hey, it rained, call it over and move on, but that isn’t what this concert was about. From day one, it was always about the music.  These are the best bands out there….the fans have said so…and we want to make sure they get the opportunity to play” he added.

To date, both 97X and Rock 104.9 have committed to the event, along with Vanguard Distributing (Budweiser) Mac 93 and KWPC 860, Curry Transportation Services, and community groups such as the Jaycees, Quarterback Club and Muscatine Pilot Club.

The concert will be held on August 20, in the front parking lot of Plamor Lanes 1411 Grandview Av in Muscatine, starting at 7PM. Adult cover is $5, with kids under 12 free. Food and beverages will be available outside, and the bowling and lounge facility itself will be open for business that evening. The facility also has ample parking on-site.

Special thanks to all the sponsors and fans who have made this event possible.
