Rain won’t dampen the
“Battle of the Bands” this time!
Despite poor forecast, concert will go on as scheduled inside Plamor Lanes!
Rain may have won round one, but the re-scheduled Great River Days “Battle of the Bands” will take place irregardless of this Friday’s poor weather outlook. After surveying multiple weather forecast sources, all agree that at some point on Friday evening during the concert, rain will occur. Event organizers have implemented “Plan B” to move the entire event inside Plamor Lanes’ spacious facility and insure that the year’s most anticipated concert event will be concluded on schedule this Friday evening, August 20, starting at 7PM.
Larry and Leanna Richardson, owners of Plamor Lanes have graciously allowed the stage to be set-up on the bowling lanes themselves, to give maximum view ability for the show. Full beverage and food service will be available, along with the other amenities the facility has to offer. Increased parking will result from moving inside, as both front and back lots will be open.
The line-up of bands will remain the same, with the play order as posted prior. Fans in attendance will cast votes for the best homegrown music act in the region, with full purse payout to the groups. A nominal cover charge of $5 for adults (kids under 12 free) will apply at the door.
“We needed to be proactive on getting this concert concluded, as there no make-up date that all the bands could attend” said Kerry Keller, event co-chairman. “Maybe it will rain, maybe not, but by moving the show inside, it won’t matter. Our mission is to give the bands the opportunity they have worked so hard for, and give the fans the show they want” he added.
Event organizers are working feverishly to move the event and the logistical details from the parking lot to inside the facility over the next 30 hours. Even so, all indications are that the show will happen on schedule. “This isn’t the first time we have had to move the event on short notice”, commented JJ Koehler, event co-chairman, “it’s kinda been the way it’s gone for us this year….but the show must go on”.
