GRD Battle of the Bands
now in the final stretch

20 bands vie for the final five – 2 weeks left in voting

Even though the concert is still 6 weeks away, the GRD 97X and Rock 104.9 “Battle of the Bands” contest has reached another milestone with 20 confirmed bands entered, all with hopes of gaining enough votes to make the Final Five who will compete for $2250 in cash at the 52nd Annual Great River Days festival in Muscatine on July 30, 2010.

The unique web-poll format allows for the general public to preview the bands online, and cast their vote for who they want to see play on the Family Credit Union Main Stage that evening. The top five each will be invited to perform a single 45 minute set of music, with the crowd in attendance deciding who will be crowned the best music act in the area at the conclusion of the show.

Close to 2000 people have voted so far, but there are many undecided voters who have been waiting for the close of nominations to cast their ballot. “With just 2 weeks to go, I really expect the number of voters to double”, commented event co-chairman JJ Koehler. In addition, the bands themselves have been getting out the vote and garnering support through social websites such as Facebook and myspace.com. “We have bands from 3 states entered, and they all want to play Great River Days, but we won’t know who will make the final five until the voting ends on July 5” he continued. “What makes this concert great, is that the public chooses the bands, and it shows in the energy that these bands put forth on stage that evening. It really is the concert that you don’t want to miss”! he concluded.
